Better broadband speeds would help IT sector

September 28, 2009

Research carried out by the BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, has found that the rollout of next gen or even faster broadband in some areas would greatly improve the UK’s IT infrastructure.

The study involved IT managers from many different areas and industries in the UK.

Around sixty-six per cent of those asked said that that high speed broadband on a UK-wide scale would prove to be of value to their own and other businesses in the country.

However it was also found that sixty five per cent of those who responded felt that there is a need for those involved in the industry to have the opportunity to improve their IT skills.

Currently only Virgin Media has made a major push on updating its network, while BT is carrying out trials for next gen broadband services.
