Project Canvas set top boxes released in December

Set top boxes that are compatible with the much talked about and hyped up Project Canvas will become available for sale before Christmas, but unfortunately for excited viewers it will be the Christmas of 2010!

This planned launch is still a long way off and Project Canvas is still a very controversial issue and is by no means signed, sealed and delivered.

The announcement was made at a Project Canvas meeting fronted by the BBC’s ITPV director Richard Halton, where he laid out some of the plans for the online service.

At the meeting the BBC proposed a new look electronic programme guide (EPG).

This has got the attention of BSkyB and it seems that the satellite broadcaster is still not too pleased about the proposed rollout of Project Canvas.
