Sky supports plans to tackle illegal filesharers

October 1, 2009

The TV, broadband and phone provider BSkyB has been confirming its position on the government’s proposed plans to combat those customers that use the broadband service for illegal filesharing purposes.

According to BSkyB, it would be willing to welcome the proposals from the Department of Business, but only if these measures are taken in way that would bring the entire industry together in order to tackle the issue in a sensible manner.

BSkyB has the sensible approach of tackling the problem of illegal filesharing by providing customers with the services that they want and in a way that they want, which makes it unnecesary for them to go down an unofficial route.

The firm feels that because it is a major broadband provider, offering its own content, it is in a unique situation to comment on the issue.
