Microsoft has announced that it has finished XP Mode for Windows 7, and it will be ready to go on the operating system’s launch date of October 22nd.

The mode is designed for small or medium businesses who are still running Windows XP, and are concerned that some of their applications might not work on Windows 7 if they upgrade.

Although Microsoft stresses that there should be no problems in this regard anyway, and that the XP Mode is more of a “just in case” safety net.

XP Mode will be a free download for users of Windows 7 Professional and above.
