Broadband speeds getting faster

The latest figures released by broadband.co.uk show that there was a slight increase in the UK’s overall broadband speed.

In August the average broadband download speed for the UK was 4.331 Mbps and in September the average broadband download speed was measured at 4.361, an increase of just .03 Mbps.

It should come as no surprise to find that Virgin Media is the fastest internet service provider in the country, with an average connection speed of 7.238 Mbps, a slight improvement on last month’s figure.

O2 (Be Broadband), TalkTalk, Sky Broadband and Orange took the top five places for download speeds.

But O2 (Be Broadband) came in top when it came to upload speeds, achieving an average upload speed of 0.738 Mbps, while Virgin Media came in second with 0.513 Mbps.
