Sky has confirmed that the plan to introduce the Sky Player for users of Xbox live will go ahead this month, although neither Sky or Microsoft have given any actual dates for the launch.

It was only though the Sky Magazine that the date became known.

It stated that the service is planned to go live sometime during October.

Xbox users will be able to access the Sky Player through the console, where they will be able to catch up with all of their favourite TV shows on a pay as you view basis, although it is expected that BSkyB will be putting together different packages for users.

BSkyB has no plans to make HD content available to Xbox owners and they will not be able to record any of the programmes either.
