Gemalto launches Smart Guardian

by Jan Harris

Gemalto today launched its Smart Guardian device, a USB smart card offering protection for sensitive information.

Protiva Smart Guardian protects the integrity of data, and guards against loss, while allowing mobile workers to access corporate resources securely.

Data is encrypted and stored on Smart Guardian, and any attempts to tamper with the device will be detected and cause the device to zero-out its contents.

East of use is one of Smart Guardian’s key selling points

Users insert an authorised portable token and enter a passphrase to unlock the device, and data is automatically encrypted when it is transferred to the device.

The launch of Smart Guardian follows Gemalto’s partnership with OpenTrust to jointly provide integrated enterprise security solution.

The partnership combined OpenTrust’s Smart Card Manager with Gemalto’s strong authentication solutions.
