Satellite broadband provider SES Astra has announced the launch of its new HD platform, HD+, on November 1, and the good news is that the first 12 months will be free for anyone who buys a HD+ certified receiver.
Customers will receive a smart card with 12 months of viewing, and will be able to renew the card for €50 per year.
HD+ certified receivers from Humax, Technisat, Videoweb and Technotrend should be available on the high street by the end of the year.
From the launch date RTL and Vox will start HD broadcasts on the new platform, followed by ProSieben and kabel eins from January.
SES Astra recently announced that it has gained 50,000 subscribers for its Astra2Connect satellite broadband service.
