Satellite sports could be on Fetch TV

With Ofcom planning the destruction of BSkyB’s hold over the Pay TV market, it seems that one beneficiary of this plan could be Fetch TV, the IPTV service from IP Vision.

So far Fetch TV has no sports coverage at all, which makes it one of the only providers not to have sports services from either Sky Sports or ESPN.

Fetch is communicating with all sports vendors, but there is a special problem when it comes to football as Sky Sports has the majority of games, while currently ESPN has 46, but next season this changes.

For the 2010/11 season Sky Sports will getting fifty per cent of the ESPN matches, meaning that the UK satellite new boys will only be showing 23 live games.

This deal between the FA and Sky Sports is major problem for IPTV providers, as they have to deal with BSkyB in order to show live football, hence the intervention of Ofcom.
