Palm Pre out today in the UK

Brits will finally be able to get their sweaty palms on the Pre smartphone, as it goes on sale with O2 from today.

The Pre, which has been available in the US for a while now, features a 3.1 inch touchscreen and a gesture driven interface, along with a slide-out Qwerty keyboard. Not to mention webOS, Palm’s new Linux based operating system.

O2 has the exclusive on the phone, and with pre-release interest seeming high, no doubt they’ll be hoping it goes some way to making up for their impending loss of exclusivity on the iPhone.

You can bag yourself a free Pre on a two year £34.26 per month tariff, which includes unlimited data and wi-fi.

If you’d prefer an 18 month contract, you’ll have to stump up £44.05 a month to get the phone free.

Otherwise you can take out an 18 month contract for a cheaper £29.38 per month, but you’ll have to pay £97 for the handset itself.
