T-Mobile and Orange joint venture imminent
After two months of discussions the UK networks of T-Mobile and Orange will be merged into a joint venture.

The merger will create a mobile operator with 37% of the UK market and 28.4 million customers, making it the largest in the country.

Tom Alexander, the chief executive of Orange UK, will head the joint venture, while T-Mobile UK’s managing director, Richard Moat, will be chief operating officer.

The deal still has to win the approval of regulators, and the details still have to be worked out, but if all goes according to plan the merged business could be operational by the middle of next year.
