Sky Sports edits chanting during minute’s silence

November 10, 2009

For a long time Sky Sports engineers have had the ability to edit out chants and comments.

This follows some embarrassing words or songs overheard during live matches in the early days of Sky Sports.

However, Remembrance Day is one of those significant days where things should be seen and heard to be right, yet the Scottish Premier League scheduled in a live match between Falkirk and Celtic, knowing full well that before the game started there would be a minute’s silence, which left the producers with headache.

In fact, the team at Sky Sports muted the sound of chanting during the minute’s silence.

Apparently the songs were being sung outside the ground.

However, on the Radio coverage the chants could be clearly heard and some video coverage even ended up on YouTube.
