Sony PS3 to get Facebook

We know that Microsoft has an upcoming Xbox 360 update to add Facebook support (should be on November 17th), but apparently the PS3 will also be graced with the social networking site.

The rumour originated from leaked photos which have been floating around the web, showing the Facebook logo in the PlayStation’s menu.

At first Sony denied there was anything in this, but now according to reports from Eurogamer and CVG the company has now said that they will make more information available on this soon.

It’s not exactly surprising news, as it was pretty obvious that Facebook would be on the PS3 before long.

This will be nothing exciting as it will be an icon that takes you to the web page of facebook. If you have not yet noticed, the BBCi Player does exactly the same thing. It’s a nice feature but a pointless one as we can already do this. Sony need to ask web based companies to build a tool which is more specific to the consoles usability!
