BSkyB to run MTV advert sales

November 16, 2009

The satellite broadcaster BSkyB is to take over the advertising sales for Viacom in the UK and Ireland, in a deal estimated to be worth around £375 million.

However, what turns out to be a good deal for BSkyB is bad news for Viacom in the US, as it is believed that the eighty strong sales divisions in the US is under the threat of job losses.

This is a deal that is estimated to be worth around £75 million per year as BSkyB’s sales division, Sky Media, will begin selling advertising for famous brands like MTV, VH1, VIVA, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and BET.

The deal is set to take effect on the 1st January and will mean that BSkyB will be in a very strong position when it comes to negotiating with media agencies.
