Boxee releases its own STB

by David Allen

Boxee will be launching its own set top box when the system goes into public beta, after signing up for its first partnership with a consumer electronics company.

Currently Boxee is available online, but the open source home entertainment service will also be available in a handy set top box.

The Boxee service can be found on a Mac, PC and even the Apple TV device, but only before the last update, (Apple TV 3.0).

Currently details are very limited but, as with many deals like this, the main announcement will be followed up with press releases later on.

In this case, the company will be making an announcement on the 7th December, when the STB is launched.

There appear to be some crossover issues with the launch of the Boxee set top box.
