3D on demand from Virgin Media

November 20, 2009

It seems that Virgin Media could possibly beat rival BSkyB to offering its viewers 3DTV content, however, unlike the service being offered by Sky TV next year, Virgin Media will be making 3DTV available on demand.

Channel Four is currently running a week of 3DTV programming, although this is limited.

It is clear that 3DTV is going to be the biggest thing to hit the TV sector since high definition, and with Virgin Media offering on-demand the viewer will be able to pick and choose content that they want to see.

It appears that faith in 3DTV is not as strong as it would first appear and this move is more like a flirtation than a full-blown commitment, as Virgin Media will cut the on-demand content during December.
