Panasonic TC-P42G10 1080p Plasma HDTV

by Franz Bicar

panasonic-tc-p42g10The Panasonic TC-P42G10 1080p Plasma HDTV’s Neo PDP panel can display gorgeous full-time 1080p resolution in an energy efficient way. That’s pretty much unique for plasmas as they were never branded as energy savers. But plasma manufacturers have put in a lot of research in this direction. The Panasonic TC-P42G10 is, indeed, one of the results in this endeavor.

Panasonic designed this new panel so that it only uses half as much energy as previous models while maintaining just as much brightness. On top of that, a stunning 40,000:1 native contrast ratio teams up with an infinite black panel to contribute to deeper blacker levels. The TC-P42G10 turns your movie, JPEG photos, or games into a masterpiece of natural, defined images.

The TC-P42G10, measuring 42-inches, takes home video experience to a new level. THX isn’t a recording technology, but rather a high-fidelity audio and video reproduction standard for film content. Furthermore, as an industry benchmark in video-image quality, THX Display Certification assures consumers that the TC-P42G10 delivers exceptional images, frame after frame, bringing immersive movie, broadcast, and gaming experiences, right into the living room.

The TC-P42G10, of course as with new HDTV models, include internet access via VIERA CAST. Users can watch the latest YouTube creation, view a slideshow of pictures, and then can even let users check their emails. VIERA CAST shows up on the TV in a grid pattern, with YouTube on the right, Picasa on the left, and Bloomberg and News reports on the bottom. Navigation is easy and users can easily access updates via the internet.

The 42-inch plasma TC-P42G10 is gorgeous, but it’s not just a hunk of fine-looking flat panel. It’s loaded with intelligent technologies. Take the 600Hz sub-field drive, for instance. This technology produces razor-sharp images, even in high-speed chase scenes. Thoughtful additions like the pixel orbiter (an anti-image retention device), an Anti-Reflective panel, and an ENERGY STAR qualification add up to explain the impressive 100,000-hour panel life span.

And speaking of convenience, the set also incorporate Panasonic’s VIERA Link. Users can operate (through three HDMI connections) all their home theater components by pressing one button on the TV remote. An HDMI cable carries not only digital video and audio signals, but control signals, too.

For those looking at plasma sets but can’t seem to take the plunge due to its energy consumption, check out the Panasonic TC-P42G10. It’s got the best of plasmas with a new technology for the environment.
