First commission for the BBC Comedy College

November 23, 2009

The BBC Comedy College has produced its first success, a pilot for a sitcom by John Warburton.

The show will be called “The Inn Mates” and as the title suggests it is something to do with a pub or bar!

In fact, the establishment in question is called the Kings Ransom and it centres around those characters that turn up on Sunday lunchtimes.

John Warburton developed the show while at the BBC Comedy College last year.

The college is just one of the initiatives set up by the BBC to help new writers.

The show has been commissioned by Danny Cohen, the controller of the BBC’s digital TV channel BBC3.

It will be made by BBC Comedy North in Manchester and produced by Jon Montague and Michael Jacob.
