Sky wants Anti Trust case thrown out

November 24, 2009

Last week we reported that the Italian broadcaster Mediaset was seeking to take out anti trust proceedings against News Corp’s Sky Italia, or rather against the product that the satellite provider has recently launched.

The Sky Key is a USB device that subscribers use in conduction with their satellite TV set top box.

It actually enables the viewer to receive the Mediaset range of free to air terrestrial channels.

This has caused to anti trust issue to come up, but now Sky Italia is calling on the Italian anti trust authority to drop the complaint made by Mediaset, because according to Sky Italia it is being used as just an excuse and is totally unfounded.

Mediaset’s point of view is that the Sky Key will hit the sales of its own set top box equipment.
