CINELAN and Babelgum today announced a mobile partnership that brings the complete CINELAN library of films to a global audience via Babelgum’s mobile and online platforms (www.babelgum.com/morganspurlock).
Co-founded by Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me, Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden and the upcoming The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special – In 3-D! On Ice!), CINELAN has a library of content produced by some of the great documentary filmmakers of our time including Steve James (Hoop Dreams), Ross Kauffman (Born into Brothels), Jessica Yu (Breathing Lessons), Liz Mermin (Shot In Bombay), Marilyn Agrelo (Mad Hot Ballroom), Grant Gee (Meeting People Is Easy), and Jeremiah Zagar (In a Dream).
Karol Martesko-Fenster, General Manager & Publisher of Babelgum’s Film Division, stated, “We are thrilled to continue to present the fine films in the CINELAN collection.
“Over the course of 2009 we have premiered numerous CINELAN short stories on Babelgum, taking viewers into the lives of dozens of riveting subjects.
“The high quality of work from CINELAN filmmakers, and the success of the films during 2009 on our platforms, have helped Babelgum maintain its commitment to content creators, and to secure our mission to be the leading online and mobile destination for documentary filmmakers.”
“Using Babelgum as our online and mobile distribution partner is important for us because of the position Babelgum is taking in the independent film community.
“They are one of the few truly global players in the space and the commitment they are showing to independent film, including documentaries, demonstrates to us that they are doing the right thing to support the indie film community,” said David Laks, CEO of CINELAN.
