According to recent research it would appear that Video on Demand (VoD) through the television is likely to outperform the traditional method of receiving VoD through a computer.

The research, carried out by WPP’s Kantar Media, studied responses from a survey called FutureProof, which asked around 2,500 people aged over 12 about their viewing habits.

The responses included 453 Virgin Media subscribers and these figures speak for themselves, with seventy five per cent using a TV enabled VoD service compared with forty five per cent using the VoD service available through the computer.

It seems that catch-up TV services are the main reason for accessing the service online.

According to the director of Kantar Media, Charlie Gordon, around seventy five per cent of the UK’s viewers own high end televisions capable of receiving VoD direct.
