Last century the naming of decades seemed so simple, just add “ties” on the end and that was that.
But since the turn of the century there has been an issue concerning what to name the decades, the first of which was known as the “Noughties”, but how will it work for 2010?
This appears to have been of some concern for the cast of Dr Who when they presented a show on Radio Two, according to Dr Who or, as he is also known, Dr Who for now!
He said that the year would simply be “Twenty Ten” and apparently there is a department within the BBC that works out compliance rules.
However Bernard Cribbins suggested that older people prefer “Two Thousand and Ten”.
It seems that the BBC has not made a rule for the year or decade yet!
