Palm Pre to get paid apps in the UK

Palm has confirmed that it will be gracing the UK with its paid for apps, so Pre users will have the opportunity to purchase potentially better quality apps, as well as downloading freebies.

Palm’s e-commerce program, which has already gone live in the US, will be launched here in March.

And apparently the scheme has been a hit in America, according to a statement on the company blog.

“The e-commerce program has been tremendously successful in the US, with about 600 new paid apps available in just two months, and the extension to Europe gives developers a compelling new opportunity to distribute and monetize their apps,” boasts Palm.

The company is also stressing that its developer program will provide greater “freedom and choice” in getting apps to the market.

“For developers looking to make money, it’s all about speed, promotion, and reacting to customer feedback,” said Palm.
