3D TV working group announced

David Allen -

With the market in 3D TV technology about to explode it seems that some ground rules need to be applied, which could be why the first meeting of the newly created 3D TV Working Group will be taking place on the 9th January, during the CES 2010 at the MGM Conference Centre in Las Vegas.

The 3D TV Working Group has been created by The MPEG Industry Forum (MPEGIF), with some serious founding members that include: dicas, Harmonic, MainConcept, Motorola, NetLogic, and TDVision.

The purpose of the working group is to offer some clarity for the technology, which is going to be essential for the successful deployment of the 3D TV service.

The working group believes that if the industry can get together on this, the deployment of 3D TV technology will be smoother and quicker.
