The electronics firm Sony has announced that it will be launching a 3D TV channel, initially in the US.
The channel will be part of a new partnership with IMAX and Discovery Communications which, unsurprisingly, runs the Discovery Channel network of channels.
The plan is to launch the channel at some point during 2011.
It will be broadcasting 24 hours a day for seven days a week, providing viewers with adventure, children’s, natural history, science & technology and space programming, all in 3D.
The partnership has a plan to take this to certain undisclosed international markets.
It is not known whether or not these plans will include the UK but the Discovery Network is very popular in the UK and it would be logical to assume that the channel will eventually come to this country.
