Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been top of the UK video game charts for nine weeks now.
In fact, it’s starting to give us flashbacks to the music charts of the early nineties, when Bryan Adams held the number one spot for sixteen torturous weeks with that song from the Robin Hood film.
At least Modern Warfare 2 staying at the top isn’t a crime against humanity, however.
Unsurprisingly, Modern Warfare 2 has sold very strongly globally, and indeed it has now become one of the few games to surpass the $1 billion worldwide sales barrier.
The game’s developer, Infinity Ward, reckons half that money was taken in the first five days, a blistering performance if that is the case.
It isn’t publisher Activision’s first billion dollar game, mind you, with the likes of Guitar Hero 3 and World of Warcraft previously breaking this barrier.
