Sky News expands smartphone application

by David Allen

The satellite broadcaster BSkyB has been so impressed with the success of its Sky News iPhone application that the company has decided to launch a new service, designed specifically for the wide range of smartphones available in the UK.

A new mobile site will allow users of the iPhone, Blackberry and the latest product from Google, the Nexus One, to access the satellite broadcaster’s content on Sky News.

All a user has to do is register for the service on the Sky website.

This action will pass them over to the Sky news website, where thumbnail images and text show the top stories at that particular time.

The user will be able to check out the news in text or video form, just as they could on the website from a laptop.
