Sony, Cowell and Green take on digital entertainment

by David Allen

When giants of the entertainment world get together and walk away with a deal to take on the world of digital entertainment, the industry has no option other than to just sit back and watch what happens next.

The deal has been agreed between Sony Entertainment, Simon Cowell and Sir Philip Green.

They will be concentrating on the music, television, film and digital content markets under Simon Cowell’s brand name Syco.

The new firm already has The X Factor, The Got Talent Series, as well as established act like Leona Lewis, Il Divo and of course Susan Boyle.

Syco will operate from a head office in London and will naturally have offices in LA too.

One of the first new ventures for Syco will be the launch of the US version of the X Factor in 2011.
