There are plenty of advantages to be had from digital switchover and the government’s plans to restructure the spectrum.
However, on the other side of the coin, there are some issues that could cost various organisations millions of pounds to rectify.
One such issue faces the Church of England, as once the switchover takes place and the spectrum is reallocated, this change will render virtually all public address system within churches and cathedrals useless.
It has been estimated one in eight churches will need to replace or retune their equipment at a cost of around £500.
This adds up to a massive £1 million that the Church of England will need to find in order to keep the sound systems working.
