Readers might be forgiven for thinking that Setanta was already dead and buried having gone bust last year. Not quite.

Setanta has kept the brand alive in the USA and Caribbean, and will pull the plug on these operations at the end of next month, Feb 28. Reportedly Setanta had some 120,000 subs in North America.

But it seems unlikely that other international channels, in Australia and over Africa, will also go dark – this month, at least.

Setanta, in a statement says it has reached an agreement to transfer certain US programming rights, including premium soccer and rugby events, to Fox Soccer Channel effective March 1.

The statement added that Setanta will cease broadcasting its premium channel in the U.S. and the Caribbean.

Seemingly Setanta’s web-service i-Setanta will also go dark.
