Digital TV means ET won’t see Eastenders

February 1, 2010

As the days of analogue television signals come to an end it seems that any of our neighbouring solar systems that have been watching every broadcast since the 1930’s will be cut off.

According to research carried out by Dr Frank Drake, the founder of the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI), claims that switching off the analogue television signal will greatly reduce the chances of it being picked by out alien neighbours.

The difference between the analogue signal and a digital satellite signal is simple, the analogue signal radiates out from earth, whereas a satellite signal points down towards earth.

If anything is going to make the aliens initiate first contact the loss of their daily dose of Eastenders could just do it, after all they must be sitting on the edge of their seats waiting to find our who killed Archie!
