Just after the set top box manufacturer Thompson changed its name to Technicolor, the company announced that it has now produced over one hundred million digital set top boxes.

The company has been around since the early days of digital television.

It was in 1994 when it first got involved in the business under the Thompson brand, delivering equipment to providers of satellite, cable and IPTV service providers.

Technicolor has a respectable customer base that includes, Direct TV, News Corp, Sky Brazil, Sky Mexico and UPC Broadband.

The company has also been at the forefront of new and innovative TV solutions, coming up with the first set top boxes that allowed consumers to record one channel while watching another and the first HD personal video recorder with integrated digital recording.
