BT going to wait for Project Canvas

BT Vision, the IPTV service from the broadband and phone company BT, has seen a rise in users.

In fact during the last quarter BT Vision managed to attract around 15,000 new customers to the digital TV service taking its subscriber base to new levels at 451,000, although the target was for two to three million subscribers by 2011.

However BT is not resting on this success.

It still believes that there is a real chance that the multi channel backed Project Canvas holds the keys to the future of online video and is willing to wait and see what happens when the BBC Trust makes its final decision.

There is also the issue pending from the regulator Ofcom on the wholesale prices that BSkyB charges for its content.

These issues all have a part to play in the development of Project Canvas.
