Apple iPhone gets Freeview app

by Darren Allan

iPhone users will now be able to plan what they’re going to watch on Freeview, using their phone on the train journey home.

This will happen courtesy of a Freeview app, which is basically a listings guide, detailing all channels, and eventually including the HD ones (just the BBC HD channel is available at the moment, ITV will be added shortly, apparently).

The app will have a what’s on “now and next” function, and a top ten channel list, so users can see what the most popular channels are.

Listings can be customised to your local TV region, and indeed you can tag your own favourite channels to be listed first.

There’s no charge for the app, so you can download it for free, meaning it has to be worth a punt for Freeview addicts.
