O2 has managed to rustle up another exclusive on a phone, this time a handset from HTC.

The HTC Smart is a budget smartphone which should pick up some interest from tech-fans without deep pockets.

It uses Qualcomm’s Brew operating system, with the HTC Sense interface, and social networking support built-in.

Specs include a 2.8 inch touchscreen, 3 megapixel camera, a 300MHz processor, and 3G support but no wi-fi.

So you can see where the budget element comes from. While the actual price hasn’t been announced, O2 has said the Smart will be pitched at around half the expected price of a smartphone.

O2 should have the phone on sale in April.
