Toshiba’s Cell TV ready for UK Launch

The electronics firm Toshiba will be launching its Cell TV in the UK sometime this year, although the company has not released any details on the price tag or even exactly when it is likely to be available.

The Toshiba Cell TV gets its name from the cell processor used in the set top box.

This small piece of equipment has a 3.2 GHz chip, up to eight digital TV tuners and a 3 TB hard drive.

This allows the recording and playback of digital programming but with one small difference; it can convert a standard 2D television image into a 3D image.

It does this by taking the existing image and processing it within a range of factors to reproduce the image in 3D.

Although Toshiba admits that the conversion from 2D to 3D is not perfect, there will be only small errors to cope with.
