BBC in turmoil over cutbacks

March 2, 2010

The planned cuts by the BBC to save money and streamline the services offered could backfire on the corporation, as union leaders and musicians appear to be joining forces to prevent the BBC from closing the flagging Radio 6 service.

It is not just radio that is facing the axe, many of the corporation’s websites and pages could be cut back too.

The BBC is still looking to cut six hundred jobs and cut back on buying expensive US-made TV shows.

These plans are being rushed through, as a change in government could mean a change of heart too.

Somewhere along the line cuts will be made, but with the BBC spending money like it is going out of fashion on building projects and redevelopments, it is sometimes hard for employees to accept job cuts and measures designed to save money.
