Google is still number one in Search. Microsoft has tried to catch on but so far, has failed to make a dent on the Search market.
When asked whether Microsoft will ever catch up to Google, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer replied, “There’s no good answer to this question. If you say yes you seem like you’re arrogant and if you say no it looks like you have no faith. So the answer is yes, someday. The truth is, the number one thing Google benefits from is they did it right first.”
This statement was issued during Ballmer’s interview at the Search Marketing Expo in Santa Clara, California. Microsoft plans to expand its Search influence with its advertising deal with Yahoo. Microsoft’s Bing will hopefully be the default search engine for Yahoo’s web sites. With this move, Microsoft hopes to wrest a share of the Search market from Google.
Furthermore, Ballmer promised that Microsoft will remain competitive and Search will have a bigger share of Microsoft’s business and profits going forward.
