A British executive at Intel has suffered a stroke at the weekend, and is now taking a prolonged medical leave of absence.

Sean Maloney, an executive Vice President who has been with the company for almost thirty years, is a candidate to succeed Paul Otellini in the top job at Intel.

He is now expected to take a few months off to get better, although doctors expect he will make a full recovery.

“I visited with Sean and his sense of humour and determination to return to work fill the room,” CEO Otellini said. “We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to his return.”
