The launch of the new TiVo set top boxes in the US could be a sneak preview of what is in store for subscribers of Virgin Media, following the cable TV company’s tie up with TiVo, due to take place at some point during this year.

The TiVo set top boxes will come in Premiere and Premiere XL versions and will come with an Ethernet port allowing the users of these devices to connect to the broadband network and make use of all the online television services that are available these days.

The Premier set top box, priced at around £200, will come with a 320 Gb HDD, wireless G and N wireless adapter support and a variety of video formats up to 1080p.

The Premiere XL box is more expensive at £334 and it additionally offers a 1 Tb HHD and the THX Optimiser video tool.
