Now strengthens Serie A coverage

Hong Kong IPTV operator Now TV will screen Italian Serie A soccer for the next two seasons across television, the internet and mobile following a renewal of its deal with Serie A rights holder, MP & Silva.

PCCW-backed Now TV will air an average of eight matches per match week (up to 304 live matches over the two years). That is up from the 130 matches broadcast over the course of the current season.

A “significant portion” of the coverage will be available both in standard and high definition, while the operator will also offer on-demand replays through is Now Select service.

Janice Lee, PCCW’s Executive Vice President of TV & New Media, said: “We are delighted to be bringing more comprehensive coverage of Italian Serie A Championships to now TV viewers starting August 2010.

“Under our new agreement with MP & Silva, we will be broadcasting 304 Italian Serie A matches through now Sports channels on now TV, PCCW Mobile, PCCW eye and now.com.hk.

“We will also be offering these matches on demand through our now Select service.

“We look forward to continuing discussion with MP & Silva in future for expanding the coverage of Italian Serie A further as well as the broadcast of other sports properties.”
