Record figures for the iPlayer

March 19, 2010

Once again the BBC iPlayer has been setting the pace for all catch-up and on-demand TV services, with an amazing 116.4 million requests for digital TV and radio services through the platform.

It is not a record breaking month, as January set the record with a staggering 120.3 million requests, but then again February is a shorter month with just twenty eight days to play with.

According to the BBC, it was the live edition of the soap Eastenders which helped the iPlayer during February.

In fact during that particular week there were 18.9 million requests made through the iPlayer service.

Requests from the Apple iPhone accounted for around four per cent of all usage.

The Nintendo Wii had a record making month too, with requests lifting from one per cent to four per cent.
