Grundig launches Freesat HD PVR

March 22, 2010

The UK Freesat HD PVR market has been dominated by the Humax Foxsat HDR for some time and this is mainly because of the lack of competition, which is all about to change.

Grundig is launching the GUFSDTR500HD set-top-box, finally offering the UK consumer a choice of equipment to receive the SD and HD channels available on the free to view satellite system.

The set-top-box has a 500 Gb hard disk capable of storing around a hundred and twenty five hours of HD content or well over three hundred hours of SD content, which beats the Humax set-top-box hands down.

Naturally there are twin tuners, allowing the user to watch and record two different channels, yet it is the addition of an Ethernet port for on-demand services in the future that turns out to be the most interesting feature.
