iPlayer to become social

March 23, 2010

The BBC’s plan for the iPlayer has been released and it seems that the plan is to make it much more social by forming partnerships with most of the popular social networking sites.

According to the BBC’s director of Future Media and Technology, Erik Huggers, the BBC is planning to integrate the next version of the iPlayer, dubbed 3.0, with all of the main social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter and Bebo.

The third version of the iPlayer is getting closer to a launch and it will come with some social networking tools already built into the device, making it easier for users to share content with their friends.

The new iPlayer will require users to register their account, in order to allow them to integrate social networking sites into the system.
