Grundig ventures into Freeview HD market

David Allen -

Prior to the launch of the Freeview HD TV service, the electrical manufacturers Grundig and Goodmans have launched new set top boxes that will be in the stores in time for the start of the World Cup Finals in South Africa.

There could not be a better time to launch a new set top box that offers consumers the full Freeview quota of channels as well as high definition channels such as BBC HD, ITV HD and Channel Four HD, with no subscription charges.

Freeview will not be carrying Five HD as that one went to Sky.

One other thing to look forward to is the addition the BBC iPlayer, which should be made available towards the end of the year.

Both set top boxes will be widely available in the UK at a cost of around £150.

Well, I hope the HD Grundig freeview box is not as sluggish to operate as the old one.
