Wales becomes a Digital TV Nation

by David Allen

After what has seemed to be a long and slightly trouble digital switchover process, the transmitter at Wenvoe and its associated relay stations have been switched from the analogue TV signal to an improved digital TV signal.

This makes Wales the first nation within the UK to be fully digital, although it has to be said that the switchover process has had its issues, especially when it comes to the signal spreading across the border into England.

Of course this works both ways, but it was nothing that a quick manual retune could not sort out.

According to Digital UK which has managed the entire digital switchover process, there have been fewer calls to the help lines from Wales than there have been from other areas.

  1. But still pretty much of South Wales is still covered by relay transmitters meaning reduced channels.
Unless your aerial faces Wenvoe or Pontypool then you will only recieve about 15 channels.
