Premier League to get overseas TV cash

April 1, 2010

As some pubs and clubs have found to their cost, live Premier League football matches are often shown abroad and these matches can be picked up on the right equipment, but BSkyB and trading standards do not take very kindly to this form of piracy.

However, for the Premier League these deals bring in much needed cash, in fact around £12 million a year from television rights, licensing cash and sponsorship deals.

This cash pot is about to get larger following the Premier League signing agreements with foreign television broadcasters.

These deals mean more cash for the clubs, as Europe fast becomes the target for many of the clubs in the top league with the top clubs pocketing almost £60 million during next season’s campaign.
