Countdown to the end of analogue TV

by David Allen

It has been a long trek since the first digital switchover took place in 2008 and still there are two years to go before the UK is fully digital and the analogue TV signals can finally be switched off.

This week saw Wales become the first digital nation in the UK, which may not seem to be a big deal but is a milestone in the digital switchover timeline.

Next to follow Wales will be Scotland, in just over a year’s time.

In June 2011 Scotland will be fully digital and the Switchover Help Scheme and Digital UK are launching a marketing campaign to inform householders of the changes about to take place.

As for England, it will not be until 2012 when it can be declared that the UK has finally reached the digital age.
