Rapid TV News has already reported on the improving picture for Q1 in terms of advertising revenues at ITV, Pro7/Sat 1 and M6.

It seems Telecinco, the Mediaset-owned broadcaster, is also on the up.

Julien Rossi, senior media analyst at Morgan Stanley says: “Strong broadcast advertising growth continues [across the sector].

Telecinco last week stated that January net advertising revenue was up “in excess of +20%” and February was up “in excess of +40%”. The message is that March is also looking up around 20%.”

“Mediaset last week stated that Q1 Net Advertising Reveniuues (NAR) was up 5% against consensus of +1.5% for FY2010.

“Mediaset’s pricing has remained almost flat throughout the downturn meaning the NAR increase in Q1 is due to higher volumes against the easiest comp of the year (-13% in Q109).

“In the UK, ITV reported March advertising up 17% while early media buyer reports suggest that April is up 30% and May up 25% with strong growth in retail and food.”
