There have been concerns about the connection between Rupert Murdoch, his son James and the Conservative party since The Sun openly switched sides last year.
According to the business secretary, Lord Mandelson, the Conservative party has a deal with Rupert Murdoch that could see the media controlled by Murdoch helping the conservatives.
It seems these rumours are fuelled by claims that should the Conservative be elected, Ofcom as we know it would be stripped of some of its powers, although it would be allowed to issue licences and would have limited powers of intervention when it comes to what is on the TV.
There are even claims that the Conservative’s media policies are effectively being written by News International.
Further to these claims comes the announcement that the BBC Trust would be scrapped under a Tory Government according to the shadow culture secretary, Jeremy Hunt.
